MANAGED ACCOUNT (c, 2, Malibu Moon–Catinca)

O-Klaravich Stables Inc and William H Lawrence.

B-Brushwood Stable (PA). T-Teresa M Pompay.

{GISW, $864,775}, by Storm Cat), given a 6-1 chance,

was content to stalk a crisp opening quarter in :21.61.

Rounding into the homestretch three wide, the dark bay

drew off with authority to score by 5 1/4 widening

lengths over Well Spelled (Spellbinder). Sales history:

Purchased by EQB for $110,000 2 year old 2011 OBSAPR;

KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $27,000.

 BURN THE MORTGAGE

(c, 2, Kitten’s Joy–Mortgage the House, by Chester House)

O/B-Kenneth L & Sarah K Ramsey (KY).

T-Wayne M. Catalano

was a well-beaten fourth

in his debut going six panels on the main track here

July 30. Granted a 7-2 chance this time, the bay settled

near the back of the field early and continued began to

improve his position along the backstretch. Swung out

six wide for the stretch drive, the homebred closed

with determination late to graduate by a half-length

over Ormond Quay (English Channel).

Sales history: $18,000 2yo  2011 OBSAPR.

CLIP THE COUPONS

(c, 2, Congrats–Cajun Dawn, by Awesome Again)

O-Klaravich Stables Inc & William H Lawrence.

B-Curtis G Mikkelsen & Patricia J Horth (FL).

T-Chad C Brown

seemed to be up against it facing the

3-5 Pletcher/Repole representative How Do I Win

(Corinthian), but a fast pace duel softened that foe up

and Clip the Coupons took advantage. A $100,000

OBSAUG yearling who made a favorable impression in

the pre-race warm-ups, Clip the Coupons tucked in

behind in fourth as the chalk and rank outsider Right to

Vote (Political Force) battled up front through a half in

:45 1/5. As that pair fought hard to the eighth pole,

bumping several times, Javier Castellano tipped Clip the

Coupons out, and they ranged up three wide on their

way to a half-length decision. Right to Vote stayed on

well, finishing second, with Love to Run (Pulpit) rallying

for show money. How Do I Win failed as the odds-on

choice for the second straight race, fading to fourth.

The winner is a half to Peace At Dawn (Peace Rules),

GSP, $182,811. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,000.

An EQB culling consulting program graduate.

$750,000 West Virginia Derby

at Mountaineer Park Racetrack & Casino today,

as he surged to the lead in the stretch.

(see race chart below)
